The Gospel
What is the Gospel?
Every person owes God glory
God created us to glorify, enjoy and obey Him, so every human being should live for God.
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Every person has failed to glorify God as he should
All of us have utterly failed to glorify God as we should: this is called sin.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
Every person deserves punishment
All of us are subject to God’s just judgment (what the Bible calls hell) for our sin.
“for the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23)
Jesus suffered the punishment sinners deserve
God sent His only Son to bear the punishment we deserve and to be the perfect holiness God requires of us.
“For our sake He (God) made Him (Jesus) to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God”(2 Corinthians 5:21)
Every person who trusts in Jesus will not suffer the punishment he deserves
The benefits of Jesus’ death belong to those who repent and trust Him for their eternal hope and everlasting joy.
“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19)
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
Every person must repent and believe to be at peace with God
Call out to Him who is quick to forgive and ask for His forgiveness like one man in Scripture did:
“God, be merciful to me, a sinner!” (Luke 18:13)
“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
“since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)
