Be Watchful, Stand Firm in Your Faith and Rely On God
Peter warns Christians of the danger that the devil poses to their faith. The devil seeks to destroy faith largely through suffering. The Christian is to be on guard and stand firm in faith so that suffering in life will not cause them to doubt God and not have faith. Ultimately, the vigilant Christian is to rely on God to preserve him in the faith. God has shown the Christian grace and called him in Christ, thus he is to rest assured that God will also keep him in the faith. Peter closes his letter reminding the reader that he has faithfully taught the “true grace of God” known as the Gospel. To listen to this sermon, please click on the following link: 1 Peter 5:8-14.
