Jesus is the cornerstone of God’s plan for this world.  God has set Jesus forth as the decisive factor for the eternity of all mankind.  Though unbelievers may wish to remain neutral or withhold judgment on Jesus – to fail to believe in Jesus as the Messiah is to have passed judgment and to face the prospect of judgment on the last day with no Savior.  All are invited to join Jesus the cornerstone as a living stone being built up as a spiritual house.  To listen to this sermon, please click on the following link: 1 Peter 2:4-8.

God is good.  A believer knows this well – so much that this knowledge is compared to taste.  This is a God-given taste for God.  This taste for God should result in a desire to study the Word about God, by which a believer is sanctified.  Peter exhorts Christians to long for the Bible which should naturally flow out of their enjoyment of the goodness of God – because they have tasted that God is good.  To listen to this sermon, please click on the following link: 1 Peter 2:1-3.

Scripture speaks of many things believers are to be and do.  One recurring theme in Scripture is that believers are to love.  When Jesus spoke of the great commandment in the law, He said that we are to love God with all our heart.  Yet, He continued, the second is like it – love your neighbor as yourself.  Believers are those who love, and often the group we are specifically exhorted to love is other believers.  Peter explains that we are enabled to obey God’s command to love other believers because we have been born again by the good news that was preached to us.  To listen to this sermon, please click on the following link: 1 Peter 1:22-25.
