Jesus lived a perfect life and was betrayed by one of His followers. Just before His death, He celebrated the Passover feast while teaching that what He was about to do would radically change the most significant commemorative meal about deliverance for all those who worship God. Now Jesus Himself is the lamb whose shed blood delivers from punishment. In the shedding of His blood He taught that He will bring forgiveness of sins and the new covenant promised in Jeremiah 31. To listen to this sermon, please click the following link: Luke 22:1-30.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He bore the punishment due sin and provides the perfect righteousness God requires for the salvation of all who believe. Yet, Jesus still issues a serious warning: the judgment of God is coming. This judgment comes in the form of wrath to all who reject Jesus and remain in rebellion against God. Part of the judgment about which Jesus warned came in the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. Yet, the final judgment will come when Jesus returns to earth again. The question we must all ask remains: are we ready? Only those found in Christ are ready. To listen to this sermon, please click the following link: Luke 21:5-38.
Jesus was clear about His identity: He was the Messiah sent from God. Jesus was equally clear about God’s plan for Him: building God’s kingdom with Christ as the chief cornerstone. There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ. Those who reject Him as God’s only means of salvation will suffer eternal consequences. To listen to this sermon, please click the following link: Luke 20:1-26.
Though it may seem not profound to say so, Jesus came to save. This was at the heart of his ministry. This is evident in the fact that He came and laid down His life to pay the sin debt of all who believe. Jesus’ death reconciles repentant sinners to the God against whom they have sinned. Yet, we often fail to notice another significant way in which Jesus came to save: He was an evangelist. Notice in the account of His interaction with Zacchaeus that Jesus sough this sinner out of the crowd, went to his house, and brought salvation to his house. It is in this context that Jesus says that He came to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Christians ought to follow their Master in this regard by seeking after sinners that they may be saved. To listen to this sermon, please click the following link: Luke 19:1-27.
