In Luke 9 Jesus and the disciples proclaim the kingdom of God. This kingdom centers on Jesus being the Christ of God (verse 20). Jesus then spends the rest of the chapter helping the disciples understand what what type of Christ God has sent (a suffering, rejected, dying and rising Christ) and the cost of being a disciple of the Christ of the kingdom (deny self, take up cross, follow, lose life). To listen to this sermon, click on the following link: Luke 9:1-50.
Luke 8 records many events in the ministry of Jesus.  The parable in this chapter is that of the sower. Jesus concludes the parable with the words “He who has ears to hear let him hear.” Today, the same words should not be ignored by us. Careful listening should be the practice of all those who hear God’s word, believer and unbeliever alike. To listen to this sermon, click the following link: Luke 8:1-39.
Jesus demonstrates His authority over physical ailments and death itself. In these acts He demonstrates His authority, thus His deity. Additionally, He thereby gives us a glimpse of what His eternal Kingdom will look like: a place without death and disease. Jesus follows this up by again asserting that He is the Promised One and the only way by which anyone can have hope of entering the Kingdom. To listen to this sermon, click on the following link: Luke 7:1-35.
